By Dr. Amy Wheadon, OT, OTD, OTR, NASM-CPT, YES Pediatric Occupational Therapist
I’m so excited to be part of the Education Resources, Inc. (ERI) Therapies in the School Conference this November—and I would love for you to join me!
This conference is such a meaningful opportunity to connect with school-based therapists, learn from one another, and walk away with practical strategies you can use right away with your students. Whether you’re an OT, PT, SLP, or educator, you’ll find sessions designed to support the real challenges you see every day in schools.
Let’s Talk About Movement, Regulation, and Participation
In my session, High Intensity Exercise for Regulation and Participation, we’ll explore how purposeful movement can transform the way students engage in their school day.
Together, we’ll look at how a sensory-informed, neuroaffirming approach to high-intensity exercise can:
- Support regulation and attention
- Improve readiness to learn
- Enhance motor performance and participation
- Increase overall engagement in classroom activities
This isn’t just theory—you’ll walk away with a clear framework and actionable strategies you can immediately begin using in your practice.
Bringing Evidence Into Everyday Practice
One of my goals is to help bridge the gap between research and what actually works in schools. During our time together, we’ll:
- Identify key factors in sensory processing, motor coordination, and regulation that impact participation
- Explore how high-intensity exercise influences engagement and learning readiness
- Apply the EXERSHINEkids framework to support motor learning, self-determination, social participation, and sensory processing within school routines
We’ll also focus on how to embed movement naturally into the school day—whether that’s through classroom routines, structured regulation breaks, or targeted interventions—so it feels realistic and sustainable for both you and your students.
Practical Tools You Can Use Right Away
My goal is for you to leave feeling energized, confident, and equipped with tools that truly make a difference. You’ll gain:
- Ready-to-use ideas for integrating movement into busy school schedules
- Strategies to support students with diverse regulation and participation needs
- A deeper understanding of how movement can drive meaningful outcomes
Join Me in November!
The Therapies in the School Conference will be held as a live webinar on November 5–6, 2026, making it easy to learn, connect, and participate from wherever you are.
I hope you’ll join me—and so many other passionate clinicians and educators—for two days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
